The National People’s Power (NPP) further consolidated its power by returning 16 members to Parliament from three districts where results have been completed while securing victories in 55 of the 58 electorates of which results have been announced.
The NPP recorded a convincing victory in the Galle and Hambantota districts returning 12 members to Parliament from the two districts while in Polonnaruwa the party returned four members.
The SJB returned one member each from the three districts while the SLPP returned two members from Galle and Hambantota.
From the Galle district the NPP returned seven members while In the Hambantota district the NPP returned five members to Parliament.
The NPP has won in 54 electorates that include Kandy, Matale, Laggala, Ratota, Panadura, Bandaragama, Kalutara, Nallur, Jaffna, Minneriya, Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Mahiyanganaya, Viyaluwa, Passara, Hali Ela, Welimada, Bandarawela, Bibila, Eheliyagoda Kundasale, Aranayake, Wellawaya and Beruwala electorates.
