The National People’s Power (NPP) secured convincing victories in the first few election results released so far.
The NPP secured the Galle seat and also received the highest number of postal votes in Kalutara, Hambantota, Galle, Monaragala, Colombo, Badulla, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee, Ratnapura, Matara and Polonnaruwa
In the Galle electorate the NPP secured 39,707 votes (70.16 per cent) as against 3,741 votes.
The NPP also won the Balapitiya, Ambalangoda and Akmeemana electorates.
