The National People's Power (NPP) has won over 200 local councils based on results released so far.
According to results released thus far, the NPP has secured victories in 212 local bodies. Accordingly, the party has won18 Municipal Councils, 25 Urban Councils and 169 Pradeshiya Sabhas.
The party has secured a clear majority in nearly 100 of those local authorities, enabling them to form the administration on their own. In other local authorities however, it will have to depend on support from other parties to secure a majority of member support.
The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has won 2 Municipal Councils, 1 Urban Council and 30 Pradeshiya Sabhas.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has won 2 Urban Councils and 9 Pradeshiya Sabhas while the All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) has won two Urban Councils.
