The Sri Lankan naval forced had boosted operations in Sri Lankan waters to curb illegal fishing practices of Indian Fishing trawlers.
The navy stated that they carried out a special operation yesterday to dispel Indian fishermen which were engaging in illegal fishing activities.
The Navy said that they seized an Indian fishing trawler with three Indian who were fishing in Sri Lankan waters Kovilan Lighthouse, Kareinagar.
The Northern Naval Command deployed a Fast Attack Craft to chase away a group of Indian poaching trawlers, after spotting them the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
Thus, the Navy held an Indian poaching trawler that continued to remain in the island's waters, with 03 Indian fishers and their fishing gears.
The seized trawler together with 03 Indian fishermen was brought to the Kankesanthurai Harbour and they handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for legal proceedings.
