Two trawlers involved in poaching along with 12 Indian fishermen have been seized in northern waters, the Navy said today (March 23).
The Northern Naval Command has spotted a group of Indian poaching trawlers today and deployed Fast Attack Craft of the 04th Fast Attack Flotilla to chase them away from the waters of Analaitheevu and Kovilan.
In this operation, the Navy held two Indian poaching trawlers with 12 Indian fishers continuing to remain in Sri Lankan waters.
The seized trawlers together with 12 Indian fishermen were brought to the Kankesanthurai harbour and they will be handed over to the Myliddi Fisheries Inspector for further investigation.
