Navy nabbed 72,542 illegally transported sea cucumbers during a special operation conducted in Irukkulampiddi, yesterday, Navy said.
The Sri Lanka Navy Ship Gajaba attached to the North Central Naval Command involved in the raid also nabbed two suspects with a light vehicle. The accused aged 20 and 46 held during the operation were identified as residents of Chawakachcheri and Mannar, Navy said.
The suspects along with the stock of sea cucumber and the vehicle were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Mannar for onward legal action, the SLN confirmed
