A special raid conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in the seas off Mandalakuda, Point Pedro recovered a cannabis haul of about 38 kilos and 450 grams (with wet weight) yesterday (Sep 06).
The SLN craft deployed by Northern Naval Command recovered the Kerala cannabis haul packed in 10 bundles while they were thrown away into the sea by smugglers, recognizing their inability to transfer them ashore due to naval operations.
The SLN sources revealed that the street value of the Kerala cannabis haul is believed to be approx. Rs. 11 million. The entire operation was conducted adhering to healthcare guidelines, the SLN confirmed.
