Sri Lanka Navy today rescued two Indian fishermen from a distressed vessel located about 14km off Kachchativu Island.
During a patrol on the island, naval personnel encountered an Indian man who had swum to shore after his boat capsized due to rough seas.
The Navy promptly initiated a search and rescue mission in the area, leading to the successful rescue of another fisherman.
Both rescued fishermen are in good health, and arrangements are being made to transfer them to Indian authorities.
Efforts are ongoing to find the remaining two fishermen, despite challenging sea conditions. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Colombo has informed MRCC Chennai of the situation.
