The Navy seized a total believed to be worth over Rs 23.42 Billion from January to up to date.
The officials explained that among one of the detections they were able to detect consignments of 331kg of heroin which was brought to Galle Harbour after it was held at Great Basses Reef Lighthouse.
The heroin detected was worth over Rs. 6622 -13244 million.
The most recent incident was reported yesterday, during a special operation held by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotic Bureo where they detcted 8kg and 304g of heroin worth around Rs. 166 million.
The raiding party has also managed to arrest a suspect connected to the incident.
The operation was coordinated and carried out following information received by the Navy. The navy intelligence as well as personnel of the Police Narcotic Bureau based at Hikkaduwa searched a suspicious house in Dias Watta area, Beruwala and recovered 08kg and 304 of heroin buried in the garden.
The Navy said that the gross street value of heroin recovered in this operation is believed to be about Rs. 166 million.
The arrested suspect is identified as a 42-year-old resident from the same area. The suspect together with heroin was handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for onward legal action.
