Major General Harendra Pieris, from the Gajaba Regiment, has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army effective today (16).
Maj. Gen. Pieris has been holding the position of Commander of the Security Forces - West until his appointment as Chief of Staff.
He received ‘Rana Wickrama Padakkama’ and ‘Rana Sura Padakkama’ for his bravery in combat operations, and was honoured with ‘Vishishta Seva Padakkama’ for his unmistakable service.
Moreover, Maj. Gen. Peiris is also fulfilling the role of Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps.
