New official web portal ’’Stand with Sri Lanka’’, to channel relief assistance

News

An official website, named 'Stand with Sri Lanka', has been introduced by the Government to facilitate urgent financial assistance provided by the global community, the Sri Lankan diaspora, and citizens worldwide for the relief efforts of those affected by the 'Ditwah' cyclone that impacted Sri Lanka.

This would be through the bank accounts announced by the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, and available at the URL https://donate.gov.lk, the Ministry of Digital Economy said in a statement on Monday.

Due to the recent disaster, massive destruction has occurred across the country, displacing thousands of families, destroying homes, and causing difficulties in accessing essential services, including food, clean water, and medical care. Therefore, this official website helps those who wishes to learn about methods of securely and transparently forward financial contributions towards rebuilding the affected communities, the ministry said.

“100 per cent of these financial contributions will be directed straight to coordinated emergency relief operations of the government to assist the affected families. These funds will be utilised to provide essential food supplies for displaced families, clean water and sanitation to prevent the spread of disease, emergency medical aid for the injured and vulnerable populations, as well as temporary shelter and relief kits for those who have lost everything,” it said.

Accordingly, this official website announces accurate and verified account details for making financial donations.
