R.M.A.L.Ratnayake assumed duties today (05) as the Chairman of the Election Commission, the Election Commission Secretariat announced.
Mr.Ratnayake, a retired administrative service (special grade) officer and former Commissioner General of Elections, has been in both the Department of Elections and Commission of Elections from 1986 till 2018.
Former Commissioner General M.A.P.C.Perera assumed duties as a member of the Commission today.
Senior counsel and civil rights activist Ameer Mohommed Faiz will serve as a member of the Commission as well.
The Commission said the Chairman and two members who were appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe will commence work and that more members are to be appointed.
