The preferential voting results of the Nuwara Eliya Electoral District have been released. The National People's Power (NPP) won five seats while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) won two seats. The United National Party (UNP) too won a seat from the district.

A former secretary to the Ministry of Trade , former additional secretary and chief finance official have been arrested over corruption charges , the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption said.
