A leading nitrogen fertiliser company based in Malaysia is expected to open a fertiliser manufacturing plant here, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.
He told Times Online that the plant will manufacture fertiliser using raw material from within the country.
“Once fertiliser is manufactured; it will be distributed to farmers who opted to go ahead with organic cultivation. Nano nitrogen liquid fertiliser was not successful in the country. Therefore, we are planning to get organic farmers to use nitrogen fertiliser manufactured using local raw material using the latest technology,” the Minister said.
