The possibility of defeating the No- Confidence Motion submitted against Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella hangs in the balance after some government Ministers informed President Ranil Wickremesinghe that they will be forced to vote in support of the motion due to increasing pressure from their electorates.
Times Online learns that the Ministers conveyed to President Wickremesinghe that even though they are in government, they will not be able vote against it since “they cannot face the backlash from their respective electorates” due to ongoing health crisis coupled with recent deaths due to poor quality imported medicines that shocked the country in recent weeks.
The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya is collecting signatures from the MPs on the Motion and is expected to meet this week to finalize a date for debate and scheduled to meet Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
Several members of the party including SJB leader Sajith Premadasa have already signed the motion. Other key members of the party such as Lakshman Kirella, Ranjith Madduma Bandara and Dr Rajitha Senaratne have also signed the motion as well.
