The G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination and the Grade five scholarship examination scheduled to be held later this year will not be postponed despite requests to differ the date on the grounds that syllabuses have not been completed.
Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha told Education Times that as scheduled the Grade five scholarship exam will be held on December 4 while the A/L exam will be held from December 5 to January 2.
He said that it appeared that the demand for the postponement of the examination is coming from those who are sitting the exam for the second and third time and not from those who are making their first attempt from schools.
He said that the examination has been scheduled for the holiday period and that a change of the dates would affect the timetable as schools will have to be closed out of turn.
The minister said that they have taken into consideration that the syllabuses have been completed for the students in schools.
