The issuing of soft liquor licenses for tourist hotels, restaurants and hostels for foreign tourists has been suspended with immediate effect, the Excise Department said.
The Department said the decision to temporarily halt the issuing of licences and suspending the existing licenses to places registered under the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority was taken following a court order.
The decision on the suspension will be decided following the final hearing of the case, the Excise Department said.
