The Nuwara Eliya Economic centre today (22) resumed business, after closing up shops for a day as a mark of protest over lack of fertiliser and chemicals to cultivate, officials said.
Most shops in the area too were closed on Sunday (21) in support of the protest thereby crippling business activities in the area.
However today, though the Economic centre was opened, the supply of vegetables was less than normal.
The lack of supplies from the Nuwara Eliya has resulted in a sharp increase of vegetable prices in the markets.
