Among the three Northern fishermen who went missing in mid sea last month, one of them was rescued by Maldivian authorities yesterday, according to officials attached to the Department of Fisheries.
On January 30, two fishermen from Jaffna and another from Mannar went fishing and their fishing boat got repaired at mid sea and later sunk.
According to the rescued fisherman, the boat sank in international territorial waters and three of them tried to swim for hours. The whereabouts of the other two fishermen are still known.
Along with Sri Lanka CoastGuard and Maldivian counterparts, the search is underway to track two other fishermen. (N.Lohathayalan)
