A total of 118,767 persons have received the COVID vaccine by Tuesday, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry announced.
The vaccine drive commenced on January 29 after receiving 500,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca's Covishield vaccine from India.
Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated that 23, 217 persons were vaccinated on Tuesday.
According to him, on the first day 5,286 persons received the vaccine, another 32,539 persons on January 30 and 21,329 vaccinated on January 31.
On Monday 36,396 persons have been vaccinated with front-line healthcare workers, military and police personnel given priority.
