More than 100 kilograms of Heroin will be destroyed by the Police Narcotics Bureau at an incinerator of a cement factory in Palaviya, Puttalam today, Police said.
The stocks are being destroyed following a Colombo High court order.
Along with 107 Kgs of Heroin they would be destroying another kilogram and 104 grams of substance which is suspected to be Heroin.
Nine suspects who were arrested with the drugs have been given a life sentence on October 12, 2023.
The drugs will be destroyed in the presence of a team from the Government Analyst Department, National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, Central Environmental Authority, Wildlife Department, Court officials and Police.
