The overhead bridge at the Moratuwa Egoda Uyana Railway Station has collapsed this evening (26).
The bridge collapsed together with a power pole but no deaths or injuries have been reported owing to the incident.
Railway officials said the collapse occurred just after the 7.40pm train to Colombo had left the station and as such, a major disaster was fortunately avoided.
Work on removing the debris from the collapsed bridge and power pole is currently ongoing.
