Primer Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the Japanese Embassy in Colombo today (12) to express condolences on the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena also visited the embassy today to express his condolences.
The Ministry of Public Administration had earlier declared July 12 as a day of national mourning in Sri Lanka as a mark of respect for the former Japanese PM.
Mr Abe was assassinated on July 8 by a gunman in the city of Nara while campaigning for a candidate at Japan's parliamentary election.
