Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Janka Ratnayake has declared that he was ready to standby his statement about the quality of crude oil and was ready to face the challenge posed by Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara.
He was reacting to a statement by Minister Wijesekara who said earlier in the day “CPC will respond legally to Chairman, PUCSL on the accusations on the quality of Crude Oil.”
Minister Wijesekara claimed that the CPC has adequate stocks of Diesel & Fuel Oil.
He said extended Power Cuts was requested by CEB due to breakdown at Lakshapana, insufficient funds at CEB for diesel & fuel oil & Hydro management.
However Mr Ratnayake claimed that the low quality of crude oil had resulted in the production of a furnace oil which cannot be used for the generation of power.
Mr Ratnayake told Timesonline that he was willing to standby his statement.
