The first group of women participants from France taking part in the world’s biggest female-only adventure challenge – “Raid Amazones’ arrived in Sri Lanka today morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The organizing committee will hold the tournament from until March 28 in the Kandy area under several stages.
This group of sportswomen had arrived at Katunayake Airport on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-564 from Paris, France at 05.15 a.m.
A group of officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau as well as Sri Lankan Airlines welcomed them at the arrival terminal at BIA.
Meanwhile the vesting tourists left to Kandy by intercity train.
The General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways W.A.S Gunasinghe denied allegations that the locals were deprived of traveling by intercity to Kandy today
He said that accommodated five compartments out of the nine compartment upcountry train for a foreign tourist event, therefore four compartments available for locals.
