People's Bank has joined hands with the Kandy Municipal Council to enable the citizens residing within the council limits to conveniently pay their water bills using the LANKAQR network.
This programme was ceremoniously launched at an event held at the Kandy Municipal Council with the participation of People’s Bank Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Ranjith Kodituwakku and the Kandy Municipal Commissioner Amila Navaratne, the bank said in a media release.
The Central Bank introduced the LANKAQR payment system with the intention of making cashless transactions faster, more secure and less costly for people by enabling payments via their mobile phones. Customers can scan a LankaQR code with their smartphone and make payments directly from their accounts using the People's Pay wallet App

Mahanama - Chief Accountant, Kandy Municipal Council together with Assistant Accountants, Thissa Tennakoon, Anusha Alahakoon, Kumari Dayananda - Kandy Assistant Regional Managers, and Chamani Wickramaratne - Senkadagala Branch Manager, all of People's Bank, were also present at the event.
