A police sergeant was injured after falling into a disused well while trying to apprehend a suspect in Katunayake this morning.
The sergeant was injured when a team of officers raided a house where a suspect allegedly involved in removing and stealing parts of vehicles was staying in.
The 25-year-old suspect had fled when police raided the location and it was while pursuing him that the officer had fallen into the disused well. However, other officers managed to both rescue their injured colleague and apprehend the suspect.
