Police Sgt gets promotion for bravery act

Sergeant Buddhika Kumara (42313), who risked his life to prevent a robbery, was promoted to Deputy Police Inspector in a ceremony at the Ministry of Public Security on Monday.

On September 26, Buddhika Kumara, courageously prevented a robbery of Rs. 22.3 million, bought by a businessman to deposit in the bank, fighting off two robbers singlehandedly and securing the money.

A ceremony was held to honor him on Monday (October 3) at the Ministry of Public Security, where he was promoted to Deputy Police Inspector, granted a monetary prize of Rs. 2.5 million and was awarded the Sri Lanka Police Weeratha Padakkama.

Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security, S. Hettiarachchi and the Inspector General of Police, C. D. Wickramaratne graced the occasion.

The Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the North-Central Province, the Thambuttegama Assistant Superintendent of Police, Police Inspector of the Thambuttegama Police Station and the family members of Buddhika Kumara participated in the event.
