Police are investigating the theft of money from an ATM belonging to a state bank in Minihirigama, Minneriya.
Police Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa said investigations were initiated upon a complaint by the Hingurakgoda bank branch manager and police found that the theft had occurred on September 26. A group of individuals who arrived in a "Batta" lorry had broken open the ATM using tools and made off with cash inside the machine.
The exact amount the robbers have stolen from the ATM machine has still not been determined and Minneriya Police are investigating.
