The President has appointed Gen. H.S.H Kottegoda (Rtd) as the 6th Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelwala Defence University for a period of five years with immediate effect.
H.S.H. Kottegoda served the army for more than 35 years and later he was appointed as the secretary for the Ministry of Defence in the year 2019.
General Gerard Hector de Silva (Rtd) was the past Chancellor (5th) of the University who was appointed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the year 2020.
