President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived in the country a short while ago.
President Wickremesinghe and Lankan delegation travelled to the United Kingdom to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The President also met with King Charles III at a reception held at Buckingham Palace and attended a meeting with the diaspora community.
This was Mr. Wickremesinghe’s overseas visit after taking office as the President. The President arrived on Emirates flight E.K.650 from Dubai.
The President's Media Division yesterday stated that only President’s Private Secretary Sandra Perera and Presidents Director on International Relations Dinouk Colombage joined the official delegation along with President Wickremesinghe. In addition, the President’s official doctor attended.
First Lady Senior Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe participated the tour at her personal expense and Presidential Advisor on Climate Change and Deputy Leader of the United National Party Ruwan Wijewadene also joined the Sri Lankan diaspora meeting while on a private visit to the UK, the President’s Office said.
