President Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken an active part in two notable events conjointly with the 78th session of United States General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.
Strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries, President Wickremesinghe has become a part in a high-profile roundtable discourse known as, “Economic Opportunities in Sri Lanka”, co-hosted by the Business Council for International Understanding and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the United States of America (USA), which was unfolded yesterday (September 18) in New York, USA.
The business roundtable witnessed involvement of over 40 U.S. businesses inclusive of notable deputies from Sri Lanka’s private sector alongside a delegation of high-level officials from the US Government inclined to attempting investment and commercial potentialities in Sri Lanka.
In addition, President Wickremesinghe also partook in the ‘Conference on Sustainable Development Goals - 2023”, which kick started yesterday (19) at the UN Headquarters, aiming at developing innovative possibilities to accelerate progress upon reaching sustainable development objectives by year 2030.
President’s Senior Advisor on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, and Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aruni Wijewardena also attended the occasion.
