UNP MP Wajira Abeywardena speaking ahead of the budget said that budget was being presented at a time when the country has been declared bankrupt.
He said he was confident that the budget would help to raise the country from the existing situation after experiencing severe fuel, gas and other shortages.
Mr Abeywardena said that the President was making all efforts to address the economic crisis and has called all parties to rally round to support the government is achieving the task.
Reacting reports of some of the opposition Mps planning to join the government, he said, however they do not hope to weaken the opposition by the process.
