A Presidential Task Force will be formed soon to deal with injustices to the upcountry community, Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development Jeevan Thondaman said.
He said the Presidential Task Force will be led by young individuals who are professionals representing different fields and are a part of the upcountry community.
Minister Thondaman said a Cabinet paper has been passed to commemorate 200 years since upcountry Tamil workers migrated to Sri Lanka from India.
An event will be held on the first week of November to highlight the community’s contribution to the country’s economy, he said.
