A prison officer who allegedly attempted to smuggle a mobile phone charger into the Boossa Prison was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) today.
The prison officer, who was reporting for his shift at the prison, had attempted to smuggle the charger inside his prison officer's cap. His attempt was detected by STF personnel on duty, who placed him under arrest, Prisons Commissioner and Department of Prisons Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake revealed.
On the orders of the Boossa Prison's Superintendent, the suspect was produced before the Galle Magistrate's Court and remanded.
The officer involved has been interdicted.
