President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Professor M. Sunil Shantha of the Department of Economic and Statistics of the Sabaragamuwa University to the post of Vice Chancellor for a period of three (03) years, with effect from November 02, 2023, the President's Media Division said.

Customs seize Rs. 119 Mn worth of cigarettes and whisky hidden in furniture shipment

In a major detection at the Ceylon Shipping Lines (CSL) warehouse in Colombo 09, Sri Lanka Customs officers uncovered a large consignment of contraband cigarettes and whisky concealed within a shipment declared as household furniture and personal goods.
