All pensioners are required to update their life certificates by March 31, 2023 for this year.
Life certificates are obtained every year to ensure that Sri Lankan pensioners are living and residing in accordance with the existing regulations for the continuous and accurate payment of their monthly pension.
The issuance of the life certificates has been in effect since 2016 and instead of the system of completing forms separately for each pensioner; all the pensioners have been given the opportunity to confirm life certificates through one form at the Divisional Secretariat domain level.
The pensioners have the total opportunity to visit the respective Divisional Secretariat to confirm their life certificate in the required format at their specific location.
The Pension Department registered the fingerprints of the pensioners from 2016 and the pensioners whose fingerprints have been registered should update their life certificates using the same method of issuing life certificates through fingerprints which has been started from the year 2019. Arrangements have also been made to provide facilities through 26 Divisional Secretariats offices and 476 branches of 6 state and private banks.
The Pension Department will notify the retirees who are able to provide their life certificates using the fingerprint verification facility by sending an SMS to their mobile phones.
All pensioners are expected to update their life certificates by March 31, 2023 through the above mentioned procedure.
