Veteran actress and Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema, Malini Fonseka, passed away this morning, March 24, 2025, at the age of 78 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
Born on April 30, 1947, she contributed to Sri Lankan cinema for over five decades, delivering iconic performances in films such as Nidhanaya, Thushara, Bambaru Awith, and many more.
She was also an internationally recognized award-winning actress, celebrated for her remarkable talent.
Beyond her acting career, Malini Fonseka served as a Member of Parliament from 2010 to 2015, further reflecting her dedication to public service.
