Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has urged the public to not panic about the shortages of fuel and the stations.
He also stated that the LIOC and CPC have adequate stocks of fuel.
The current shortage has occurred due to the Petrol shed owners not ordering the fuel anticipating the reduction of fuel prices, he said in a tweet.
Although the Ministry had requested them to keep a minimum stock level of 50% of fuel some stations which have not followed the measures are currently facing a shortage of fuel. Further, the Minister has requested the CPC to conduct a review and suspend the license of fuel stations that had not maintained minimum stocks.
Accordingly, the available fuel stocks as of today (June 1) at the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals LTD are mentioned below;
Diesel - 122,769
Sup. Diesel - 5,739
