The Meteorology Department forecasted that a low level disturbance to the east of the island is likely to develop into a low pressure area.
According to them Cloudy skies are expected over most parts of the island within 24 hours. Due to the prevailing weather situation.
They pointed out that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North western, Southern and Northern provinces. Heavy falls above 100 mm are expected at some places in these areas.
Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur elsewhere on the island after 1.00 p.m.
The Meteorology Department called people to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
