The cyclonic storm “MICHAUNG” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, was around 520 km North of Jaffna on Monday (4), and is set to head northwards across South Andhra Pradesh shores by today (5).
Showers or thundershowers are most likely in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, Southern, and North-western Provinces along with moderately heavy rainfall over 75 mm at certain areas.
A few showers are due in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-western and Northern Provinces.
Various other locations will see showers or thundershowers after 1:00 pm, a Duty Meteorologist of the Met. Department said.
Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-western Provinces will have misty mornings.
Thus, the public is urged to take preventives to reduce harm that can be caused by high winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
