The Metrology Department said that the prevailing rainy conditions would continue further.
A duty forecaster added that they expect that showers and thunder showers would occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. He added that showers are expected during the morning and evening hours.
He said that fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are expected at some areas in Western, North western, southern and Eastern Provinces.
He also warned the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thunder showers.
