Actor turned Politician Ranjan Ramanayake heading for a performance at an event in the US was today turned away at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) due to an existing travel ban on him, Airport officials said.
Mr Ramanayake was due to board a flight to Qatar before proceeding to the US.
He was informed at the airport that the travel ban was in respect of two pending cases.
Mr Ramanayake was released from Welikada Prison on conditional Presidential Pardon in August after being 18 months in prison after being found guilty for contempt of court.
