A record number of 2659 COVID-19 infected patients reported yesterday alone making the highest number of persons tested positive on a single day in the country, the Office of Director General of Health Services said.
With 927 contracting the virus from the new cluster identified as 'New Year COVID-19 cluster', the total number of patients increased up to 119,873. In Colombo alone, 755 fresh COVD-19 cases were recorded yesterday.
Meanwhile the Director-General of Health Services yesterday confirmed 15 deaths from May 6- to 9 due to the virus. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths increased to 801.
