The convener of the Inter University Student Federation, Wasantha Mudalige claimed that he was released as people did not yield to suppression carried out by the government.
He added even though he is set free, they would not stop their struggle and carry out protests against the government during the Independence Day.
Mr Mudalige claimed that the police were planning to kill him and he was taken to a secluded area at Nawagamuwa devalaya.
He also claimed he was mentially and pysicially tortured .
He claimed that he was handed over to terrorism investigation unit of police as the people did not yield to the suppression carried out by the government.
He added that has already filed a fundamental rights petition against police to the Supreme Court and would be taking individual legal action against police officials who tortured him individually.
However, police denied the claim.
