The remains of State Minister Sanath Nishantha was placed at funeral Parlor in Borella today evening. President Ranil Wickremesinghe and other politicians gathered to pay their last respects.
The remains will be taken to his hometown, Arachchikattuwa in the Puttalam district. The initial plan was keep the remains at his party office in Arachchikattuwa, but due to lack of space the family and organisers were considering placing the at the church in the adjoining Rajakadaluwa area .
His residence located in Arachchikattuwa was burnt down by mobs during the 2022 political violence following the Aragalaya protest campaign. (Pix by Eshan Fernando)
