President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has appointed Renuka M. Weerakone as Director General (Acting) of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
The letter of appointment was handed over to the new Director General by the State Minister of Aviation and Export Zone Development D.V. Chanaka in the presence of Chairman BOI Eng. Raja Edirisuriya and Janaka Sri Chandragupta, Secretary to the State Ministry of Aviation and Export Zone Development, and Heads of Departments of the Board of Investment (see picture on this post).
Ms. Weerakone has been with the Board of Investment for over 27 years, having held senior roles across a number of key departments, most recently as Executive Director Project Monitoring, and previously as Executive Director, Investment and Promotion. She also has a wealth of experience having headed key departments such as the Chairman's Secretariat, Project Implementation and Regional Development & Special Projects while also having served as Board Secretary to the Board of Directors, the BOI said in a media release.
Ms. Weerakone is an Attorney-at-Law by profession counting over 30 years of experience and commenced her working career as an instructing attorney with a leading Law firm in Colombo. She is also a licensed Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths. In addition, she holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
