The eligible migration allowance for the emigrants claiming migration allowance for the first time is to be increased from USD 30,000 to a maximum of USD 50,000
The officials representing the Ministry of Finance disclosed that they intend to lift all restrictions on imports except for private vehicles by the end of 2023.
The committee requested a time frame as to how long such restrictions will be in place post advertently considering the duopolies such restrictions have caused, especially governing wheat flour and tile.
The discussion pertaining to the issues was held at the Committee on Public Finance, Chaired by Hon. (Dr.) Harsha de Silva. Accordingly, the eligible migration allowance for first-time emigrants is to be been increased from USD 30,000 to a maximum of USD 50,000 or equivalent in another foreign currency. The Committee questioned the equity for those who migrated the year before the order, but officials stated that those who have already claimed the allowance can claim the remainder up to USD 20,000.
