The Supreme Court has been informed that the licenses of five liquor manufacturers, including W.M. Mendis & Co., have been conditionally suspended.
The Attorney General informed the court today that the Excise Department made this decision as part of efforts to ensure tax compliance.
The Excise Department has stipulated that the licenses of these manufacturers will be suspended if they do not settle their outstanding Value Added Tax (VAT) payments by November 30, 2024.
