Sri Lanka will provide US $ one million as well as dry rations collected with the guidance of Buddhist clergy as part of its contribution to the earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar.
A group of relief services comprising medical officers and other health workers too are standing by for immediate departure to Myanmar if the end arises.
These measures were announced by the Government after the Cabinet decided on ways in which Sri Lanka can assist the people who have been affected by the devastating earthquake last week which has left hundreds dead and many missing.
The cabinet has taken the decision to assist the people of Myanmar given the centuries-long close relationship between the two Buddhist nations.
